Our Standing Stallion

FOR SALE!

Standing at Stud in Orange Grove, Texas, Lanesmighty Prince is a 2001 ApHC, CRHA, and ICAA Registered Few Spots Leopard Appaloosa Stallion.  He has had approximately 20 offspring and they have all had color to ApHC standard.  He has F3 statues with the ICAA and has a 97% ApHC Foundation Pedigree Designation.  He is Homozygous for black and, although there is no standard testing for appaloosa characteristics, he has a 100% ratio of color offspring.

"Monty" is gentle and passive.  He is broke to ride and we have used him for ranch work, and recently we hauled him to a playday and he placed 5th in Poles and 6th in Straights.  We started him on heeling and he took to it well.  For now all he has to do is be a nice, gentle stallion that does what is asked of him.  He fulfills his role very well.  We have shown his babies with success.  Magic Meadows Honey B took 1st in weanlings at the Capital Area Quarter Horse Open Show in Austin, 2nd in the RNR Benefit Open Horse Show in the Austin Area, and 3rd overall in leadline playday with a three year old rider and only 30 days of training!  At our last show (CFSC open Playday) his daughter took Grand Champion in Leadline with a 3 year old rider and 3rd with and 18 month old rider.  His New York babies will start their show career next season.  His babies have come out with much color and beauty.  We offer a LCFG (live color foal guaranteed).  We always welcome visitors to meet "Monty" and whichever babies are here at the farm. (appointments please).

Here is a list of some of his babies and their color.

Lanesmighty Prince is a SHUFFLER!  His gait is simply fantastic.  He has a smooth and fluid trot.  I do not know much about the Indian Shuffle as I did not breed for it.  Joan Pool bred for it and I simply inherited her passion.  Here is a little information on this wonderful gait.

The Indian Shuffle- a smooth riding heritage

as defined by Classic Appaloosas

The early Appaloosas were known for the smooth riding gait that became known as the Indian Shuffle. Horses with this gait were often called "hundred mile a day horses", because the gait is easy on the rider and less tiring for the horse. It is closely related to the distinctive gait of the Peruvian Paso and Paso Fino (which share a common link with the Appaloosa to the early Spanish Jennet horses).

In the Indian shuffle, each foot hits the ground independently. The timing is not even, making it a broken four beat gait... 1-2--3-4, 1-2--3-4. This is because the time between hoof beats on the same side is shorter than the time between the next hoof beat coming on the opposite side.

The Indian Shuffle is a lateral gait, since the legs on each side of the horse lift and move together. The trot on the other hand, is a diagonal gait, since the legs on opposite sides lift and move together. The trot is also a two beat gait, because each leg in a diagonal pair hits the ground at the same time... 1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2.

The Indian Shuffle was common in the Nez Perce Appaloosas, but it is very rare today. This is partly due to crossbreeding and to some degree because it is not favored in the show ring.

This stallion is fantastic!  He is gentle and docile when around children.  Monty has the Indian Shuffle and he has passed this trait on to some of his offspring.  He honors the many titles that he has.  Stallion, Sire, Herd Protector, and Gentle Horse.  We here at Magic Meadows think he does it all.

Available for breeding through Wilkinson Horses in Premont, Texas.
